LIVE PASSIONATELY

Welcome to the Herb House!

After surviving our treacherous winter, I couldn’t wait to get outside in the warm weather and start planting fresh herbs and flowers that we can enjoy all summer long!

Rib Mountain Greenhouse

How'd we Build This Thing?

Building this beautiful contraption was a family group effort. Our inspiration came from some stunning pinterest boards and we went to town! The Herb House’s structure is built with old pallet boards, and in order to create space for planting, we added the three tiers of pine wood shelving that wrap around all four sides. For the stain we chose a cedar natural tone to protect the wood and give it a finished look.

Prep for the Plants

To set up for the planting process we layered all of the planting space with heavy duty sheeted plastic to keep the water from soaking into the wood so it can (hopefully) last forever! We also drilled holes through the layer of plastic and planting space so any excess water can drain. Following the plastic came a layer of pea gravel and healthy soil (as seen below).

BOOM- we were ready for our plants!!!

Shopping and Planting (The REALLY Fun Part!)

We took advantage of the opportunity to support local business and made a trip to the beautiful Rib Mountain Greenhouse. That place is a magical, floral wonderland!

We chose our favorite herbs and beautiful flowers to give the Herb House a little pop of color! We're looking forward to enjoying the beauty of this fun project all summer long, so stay tuned for Herb House updates!
